After smashing their Kickstarter goal to fund the group’s eighth studio album, hip hop trio De La Soul have teamed with Bestival Toronto headliner Nas for a retro jazz-infused new track titled, "God It." The group has said the song will not be included on the upcoming album, An Anonymous Nobody, but instead acts as a teaser for “good music to come.” The new album, which is their first in 11 years, will feature other big names like Damon Albarn, David Byrne, 2 Chainz, and Little Dragon. There’s no release date yet, but recording begins this month.

In a statement, De La Soul's Dave said:

“While busy at work, we also like to play. This song is not on the new album, but an indication of good music to come. The song was produced by G_Force and you may recognize our featured guest. We're still in Atlanta recording and it sounds amazing! We can't wait to get this new album to you.”

Canada’s wackiest indie rocker, Mac DeMarco, has just announced he will release a new “mini” album later this August. ‘Another One’—which will drop on August 7th—is an 8-track LP recorded in his home in Queens while on a break from months spent touring behind last year’s ‘Salad Days’. ‘Another One’ is now available for pre-order, and early purchasers will receive bonus instrumental tracks.

In addition to this news, Mac has extended his 2015 world tour. His tour dates, which span from April to September, feature a slew of summer festival dates, including an appearance at Toronto’s own Time Festival in July.

Coachella, the unofficial kickoff for North America’s festival season, has just wrapped up and left us all that much more eager for upcoming celebrations a little closer to home. If the pictures and reports from Coachella haven’t been enough to get festival enthusiasts excited for the 2015 season, this morning’s announcements just might.

Two massive announcements from two of the GTA’s biggest festivals (and yes, we are counting Barrie as the GTA for the sake of simplicity!) dropped today, and it looks like 2015 is going to be a big year for Canadian festivals. Toronto Urban and Roots Festival—who is no stranger to big names on the indie circuit, including last year’s headliners Neutral Milk Hotel and Sam Roberts Band—announced their 2015 lineup, which includes the likes of Icelandic folk-pop band Of Monsters and Men and festival favourite Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, in addition to a strong undercard featuring Wilco, The Avett Brothers, Lord Huron, Will Butler, The Punch Brothers, and many others.

On top of the TURF lineup, WayHome Festival released their second wave artist announcement today. 2015 is its inaugural year, and already the festival is making an impact on the Canadian festival scene. Previously announced headliners—including Alt-J, Kendrick Lamar, and Sam Smith—will now be joined by legendary Neil Young & Promise of The Real on the weekend of

July 24th. Other acts added in the second wave announcement include The Killers' frontman Brandon Flowers, Theophilus London, Manchester Orchestra, Django Django, and others.
