Meet Sam Soto. Coming out of Santa Barbara, he's still very underground but brings a unique taste to indie rock/pop. He has such a fascinating vocal tone. It feels slightly lazy but also precise, as if they're bit out of key but are made up for it last second, and the raspy timbre adds an element of passion that you really feel.
