PENGUIN PRISON 'NEVER GETS OLD'
Active since 2011, one-man band Chris Glover has been singer/songwriter/producer and musician for NYC pop unit, Penguin Prison. Glover has been very active over the last few years, remixing Imagine Dragons...
...or channelling Hall and Oates with his ‘Calling Out’ original...
...the result is always different and very satisfying.
Penguin Prison recently released a heart-warming new video to accompany his ‘Never Gets Old’ track from his second album ‘Lost in New York’. In the video, Glover visits his real-life grandparents in Miami and takes his grandfather out for some good, old-fashioned fun.
“I wanted to make a music video with my 90 year-old grandpa who lives in a retirement community in Florida since the song is called ‘Never Gets Old.’" Penguin Prison said in a release. "He's a really cool guy—he was in World War II and received three purple hearts and now he plays bocce every day and rides around on a two person bicycle with his wife Alice. The concept is that I live at the retirement community in the house next to my grandpa and we do all kinds of crazy activities everyday. Later on we bust out in a convertible and drive to Miami and crash a pool party. "Making this video was a good excuse for me to go visit my grandpa and do a bunch of crazy things with him while documenting it all on film.”
The song is a cross between a modern-day Chromeo and the, very 80’s, Nick Kamen; even the video’s title font screams Miami Vice. Check the video out below and visit Penguin Prison’s Soundcloud to hear the new album and sample the rest of his music library.
