KNKY ROOTS DEBUT WITH "PULP FICTION"

nu's founder, Tayo Jacob and, Norway's lead guitarist, Liraz Cohen met online in 2014, both looking to start an original rock project. They seemed to click right away, banging out a small library of song ideas within a few weeks while reminiscing about the 90s grunge era and bonding over their love for Radiohead and Muse. Unfortunately, like most band startups, life got in the way and their vision slowly faded away. Lee moved to L.A and Tayo turned his focus to his career as a music producer and actor.

Almost two years goes buy without any communication and then out of the blue, Tayo gets a Facebook message from his estranged band mate, asking about possibly getting together again to do some writing. It wasn't long before the concepts for "Pulp Fiction" and, soon to be released, "Bazaar" were in the vault. They say "absence make the heart grow fonder", well for these two rockers, "absence made the music better". Tayo drastically improved his skills as a writer and producer and Lee's guitar skills evolved into a signature sound, while gigging heavily in L.A and Toronto.

The Nigerian and the Israeli named the project KNKY ROOTS in honour of their cultural and musical backgrounds. And for all the black people reading this article - Yes - the band is basically named after Tayo's hair.

Hear the nu exclusive release of "Pulp Fiction" and stay tuned for the music video, set for release September 10 2016.
