THE JAPANESE HOUSE - "SWIM AGAINST THE TIDE"
One of indie electronic's most adventurous voices has released her third EP. "Swim Against The Tide" maintains sounds both skewed and soothing staying true to The Japanese House's unique beat, while taking a step towards classic pop. The singer/producer Amber Bain has been hard at work since her first album release in 2015, "Pools To Bathe In." This year she brings us a new mysterious sound, her lyrics are simple and often repeated, putting us into a trance full of soundscapes layered with distorted vocals. "Good Side In" stays the truest to Japanese Houses classic acoustic rhythm while "Leon" has more complex digitized vocals. "Swim Against The Tide" shows a perfected use of entrancing, atmospheric sounds – while injecting transformative pop quality Toronto fans have the opportunity to see The Japanese House live in a 19+ concert at The Horse Shoe Tavern on November 28th.
