GBC'S OPEN YOUR EARS MUSIC FESTIVAL 2017

“Open Your Ears” and check out the first annual music festival of the same name brought to you by the Special Event Management program at George Brown College. This 450 person event will be taking place on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 at Adelaide Hall and will feature five diverse, and eclectic musical acts in a unique social environment creating a truly ear-opening event.

The show itself takes place from 7pm-11pm (perfect for everyone with school, or work in the morning, right?), and boasts acts such as: Sparx, Souliloquy, Dorval, In-Drift, & Anzola w/ Gillian Mapp, so saying there is something for everyone is surely an understatement.

The host of this event is Emilie Carrey AKA Sparx Beatbox, who earned an impressive 2nd place spot at the World Beatbox Championships, in addition to being a positive influence, and overall awesome person to have around.

Souliloquy, a duo consisting of members LeemZ, and Zee, is an experimental hip-hop-rock group hailing from Toronto, and Mississauga, Ontario. As an extra bonus, Souliloquy will be performing alongside indie-rocker Matt Giblin, and solo artist Drew Dockrill from Elora, Ontario, which will surely be a treat.

Dorval will be bringing their high energy live show to the stage while providing some of that hard and heavy blues sound. Featuring Dan, and Adam from the west end, Dorval is constantly bringing their A game, and will definitely be an act you do not want to miss.

The 5-piece band representing New Wave Surf Pop, In-Drift, are a Toronto based group who use their sound to surprise and impress with their emotionally charged vocal melodies, and layers of echoing guitars.

Anzola is an experimental beat maker who performs using synths, samplers, and effect pedals to fuse the stylings of soul, electronica, dub, and instrumental hip-hop. In addition to putting on a breathtaking live show, Anzola is also credited with founding the SUBTLE BLEND collective, allowing producers of different genres to perform original material via live sets.

Tickets are $20, and all net proceeds from this event will proudly go to the Canadian Hearing Society, and the expansion of the American Sign Language (ASL) program at George Brown College. Join us as we work to raise awareness and funds for those with hearing disabilities, support the local Canadian music scene, AND have one of the coolest Tuesdays in recent memory.
