IHEARTRADIO FEST (BIG SEAN, JAMES ARTHUR & MORE)
Friday night was the IHeartRADIO at Rebel, the venue was packed of all ages and demographics.
Starting things off was Michealle Tracy. We recognized her from performing at Supermarket’s Sunday open mic, nice to see her progression.
Next was Alyssia Reid, Alberta native who had a 3-track set just like Michealle, closing with her energetic electro-pop single “Badlands”.
Scott Helman blessed us next with his powerful indie rock sound and beautiful vocal timbre.
Mia Martina played some songs with her four background dancers.
Massari also had background dancers and came out to play his newest tracks along with his classic “Pop a Bottle”.
UK’s James Arthur seemed to be one of the fan favourites of the night based off the cheering volume. It was the first time I heard of him, and what I heard gave me chills. His vocals are incredible, and all he needed was his acoustic and his accompanied keyboardist. He was thrown a “Canada” hoody that he ended up rocking proudly for the rest of his set.
The Strumbellas came up next to play some songs. Dave had a hat that read “Dave” and had some light up shoes, it was lit.
MAGIC! Were very strong. The singers’ presence was great, they pulled out a Bob Marley cover too. I didn’t realize they’re the singers of “Rude”, they saved it for last. Just like how Strumbellas saved “Spirits” for last.
Lastly, what most people seemed to be waiting for, Big Sean. He came out to “Moves” off the latest album “I Decided”. “My Last” had me feeling nostalgic, a jam I used to love of his featuring Chris Brown. He also played his verse of “Clique” and a few others before closing with “Bounce Back”.
