REVISIT YOUR TEENS WITH TWO NEW VIDEOS FROM CONAN GRAY
The next generation of bedroom pop has arrived. Meet 19-year-old singer and songwriter Conan Gray with his new anthem "Generation Why". Backed by sweeping electronic-tinged production, Gray serves up a millennial call-to-arms swathed in hashtaggable double entendre and clever hooks. The music video translates this lyrical vision to life with a visual narrative befitting of his expansive vision. The playful and simple production mixed with the vocal approach reminds me of Lorde. The laid back, not too over the top melodically verse still portrays his vocal range/harmony abilities.
Armed with nothing more than Garageband and a cheap microphone taped to a lamp, Conan Gray rose out of the small-town community of Georgetown, TX to widespread fan praise in 2017. An ode to his humble beginnings, Conan's debut single “Idle Town” clocked 10 million-plus YouTube views and 13 million-plus Spotify streams in under a year as he earned acclaim with a massive online following, and landed a deal with Republic Records. Joining forces with producer Dan Nigro [Carly Rae Jepsen, Sky Ferreira], he crafted the Sunset Season EP introduced by undeniable lead single “Generation Why.”
"Parents think we're fast asleep
But as soon as we're home, we're sneaking out the window"
Re-live your teenage rebellions below with the fun video for "Generation Why" and look out for his EP "Sunset Season" dropping in the fall.
Back at it again in the red shorts. Conan dropped another video a few days ago for "Crush Culture"
"No one cares if. you two made out"
"Just let me be sad and lonely"
Again tackling some real-life issues, it has a similar sound, staying consistent in his approach. Enjoy this equally playful and visually appealing video below too. Also he writes, directs and edits/colours his own videos!
