London’s rowdy garage rock 4-piece Palma Violets released their raucous debut album ‘180’ in 2013, including the single “Best of Friends”, which was voted NME’s song of the year in 2012. In a similar fashion to The Libertines, the young band gained a steady fan-base online even before the release of their first single, one that only grew with the increased exposure through NME and BBC Radio. The band have stayed relatively quiet since touring their debut album — but recently resurfaced with some details of their upcoming sophomore album, ‘Danger In The Club’, additionally releasing the first single off the album, which goes by the same name.

The title track is a roaring garage rock single, simultaneously youthful while seemingly recalling a previous decade. “Danger In The Club” stays true to the band’s original raw and slinky sound, but it echoes the boozy haze of The Doors and the recklessness of The Clash. It’s a ramshackle and drunken kind of rock and roll, with anthemic ‘ooh-ah’ chants and a sexy riff. The video for the song, which is fittingly set in a pub in their native London, can be viewed below.

Palma Violets played their only Toronto show in May 2013 at Lee’s Palace, but the band announced earlier this week that they will be returning later this May to play The Garrison as a part of their upcoming US tour.
