If you’re a fan of Chance The Rapper, it's unlikely that you have to go long before hearing some new material from the Chicago native. Most recently, the rapper released “Church” (a collaboration with BJ the Chicago Kid)...
...as well as his own track “Israel (Sparring)”, and ‘Free’, a collaboration record with Lil B. This is all generally within the past month alone, and it comes hot on the heels of the release of ‘Surf’, a free album by The Social Experiment that Chance was heavily involved with. The hype surrounding the hip-hop artist has been building for a while now. Back in November 2013, Complex named him one of rap's rising stars
and acclaimed hip-hop magazine XXL included him in their 2014 Freshman Class.
Despite this praise, Chance refused to sign a major label deal to capitalize on his buzz, deciding to stay independent instead. His yet-to-be-named debut studio album reportedly features collaborations with some of hip-hop's recluse, including Frank Ocean and Andre 3000, along with mainstream heavyweights J. Cole, Rick Rubin, Migos and possibly Pharrell. His debut album will begin where mixtape ‘Acid Raps’ left off, finding an innovative balance of stoner satire and deep mediations on love and life.
The past three months have essentially brought us more new Chance The Rapper music than we had in the entirety of 2014. “Israel (Sparring)” has been posted to Soundcloud and closely follows both ‘Free’ (Listen to "Free" Below)....
...and ‘Surf’. The song was produced by Cam O’bi, and features a verse by fellow Chicago native Noname Gypsy. Listen to Isreal below.
