Hayley Kiyoko nearly broke the internet this summer with the viral music video for her single "Girls Like Girls." For some, you might recognize the multi-talented Kiyoko from the film Insidious: Chapter 3 or from her various roles on the Disney channel (depending on what you’re into).

The track is off of her debut EP ‘This Side of Paradise’, which was released back in February. For the video, Kiyoko recruited two other former Disney stars, Stefanie Scott and Kelsey Chow, to tell the story of a teenage girl who realizes that she has feelings for her female friend. The song and video send a powerful message to young adults who may be struggling sexual identity and self-acceptance, but also send an important message about the discussion of sexuality in the realm of pop music.

Kiyoko is currently readying herself for the release of the movie adaptation of Jem & The Holograms, which is out this October.

Brooklyn Semhar waxes melancholic and laments a family divided on “Daddy.” This track is a smouldering, slow-burning groove that pulls itself along with all the moodiness of its subject matter. It is arranged beautifully, and reflects a refreshing jazz influence in its...
