The best thing about our amazing city is, not only its tall buildings and the food mosaic, but also the amazing music festivals going on throughout the year. Those who think that Canada’s not alive are in for a ride to a big surprise once I start naming the bands we will have the privilege of seeing Live in concert this weekend at the Bestival Festival here in Toronto, Woodbine Park.

Besides creating the Bestival-Land concept, the Ryde Slide and building the biggest Bouncy Castle, the festival has now managed to reach its notoriety by bringing in the best bands of the year straight to the park.

Peace & Love. The founders elaborated this year’s theme through a 2016 revival of – dare I say – Woodstock, where music, freedom, peace and euphoria are all on the menu. Bestival’s Summer of Love is here and this is only the beginning.

The Main Stage, The Big Top, Bollywood, Sunday Best Balearic Bar and the Cosmic Commune is what you will be expecting; to each his own. A combination of concerts and activities that everyone should most definitely savour.

Let’s ROCK.

One of the most striking names is The Cure who announced a 26-date American Tour last November. A band that needs no introduction, their tour is bringing them straight from Chicago to Bestival, for a night a night to remember, before heading off to Montreal, Boston and New York. Not to be missed by Gothic/Alternative Rock fanatics, June 12th.

Let it happen's Tame Impala is also here. ‘Album of the year winners 2015 and ‘Song of the year winners at the APRA Awards 2016, this Psychedelic Rock band is living a psychedelic dream that they'll bring to the Bestival stage on June 11th.

Listen to our favourite track from the band below.

Odesza’s sold out Fall-Tour clearly wasn’t enough for the band. The Seattle natives will grace the stage at Woodbine Park on Saturday, June 11th with their genre leading electronic beats. Hear for yourself below.

After opening for Florence and the Machine during their world tour, Canada’s rising Synth-Pop Star, Grimes will be performing on June 12th. She has always been loved for her courageous approach to electronic pop and her massive worldwide success is just a testament to how good she is at pushing the boundaries. Listen to one of her songs that will make the audience go crazy at Bestival (below).

House/EDM/Dance music will be supplied by Joris Voorn,  Maya Jane Coles,  Rob Da Bank and Dubfire, amongst many others at the Bollywood stage where Bestival promised an epic temple garnished with lights, lasers, flames, dancers, lions and tigers and bears. Other big names such as Madeon,  Malaa and Maddmon - mind the Ms - will be delivering renditions on several stages, along with trippy activities at the Cosmic Commune.

Make sure to take a tour of the Bestival-Land site to get a scope of the many attractions going on. If you’re a hippy, a costume designer, an artist, a businessman, a single mom with 10 kids, there is a destination for each and every one of you. Don’t forget to visit the ‘Dress Up Tent’, the ‘Sugar Skulls Cocktail Bar’, the ‘Flashmob Conga Lines’ and of course the ‘Drag Queen Croquet’!

Bestival is not just a Festival; it has now become a cult concept where music, life, love, activities and attractions meet. If you’re wondering where to go this weekend, this is the place to be.
