Summers for me tend to be about a music, attending festivals and shows, discovering new music and blasting it loud with the windows down. I’ve listened to an exuberant amount of new music this summer, and I’ve narrowed it down to 10 songs that I think you need to hear. Coincidentally, 5 out of the 10 songs come from artists down under, in Australia and New Zealand – I promise it wasn’t intentional, they’re just really talented! Take a listen and enjoy these jams.

I Love You Always Forever – Betty Who

Australian born, Betty Who cranks out a cover of the 90s hit by Donna Lewis. Complete with acapella arrangements, a groovy baseline, that will make you wanna move, and Betty’s airy vocals brings new life to the song.

In My Blood – The Veronicas

Remember The Veronicas and their hits you blasted in 2007? (Re: "Untouched" and "Take Me on the Floor"). The Aussie Sister duo is back with a dance pop hit that you don’t want to miss out on. The duo also released an acoustic performance of the song that shows just how talented these two are.

Castaway – King Deco

“Sometimes the king is a woman” reads King Deco’s twitter bio – native to Jordan, King Deco’s lead single Castaway is the perfect summer song with its island vibes. Complete with steel drums and island metaphors: “Don’t leave me stranded like a castaway”.

Fool’s Gold – DAGNY ft. BØRNS

Hailing from Norway, Dagny released a single featuring BØRNS about questioning a relationship that might not have been real. Dagny first released "Backbeat" earlier this year which was widely successful in the streaming realm.

Where Are You? – Nakita

Not much is known about Nakita, though we do know she’s from New Zealand. The song feels uplifting and has a good energy to it – definitely keeping an eye out for what’s next from her.

IOU – Annabel Jones

Music doesn’t always have to be complicated – and Annabel Jones’ IOU is a simply constructed f*ck you. With few elements and smooth vocals, this song jams hard.

Hate You More – Madilyn Bailey

Known most notably for her cover of Titanium on YouTube that has amassed an almost 75 million views, comes Madilyn Bailey’s debut EP, Wiser, with stand-out track "Hate You More" that features powerful vocals and solid production.

Higher – The Naked and Famous

Off their forthcoming album "Higher" is an alt-pop anthem that features classic gang vocals and an uplifting chorus. A song that makes you want to get up and do something with your life, TNAF pump out another song that gives great hope that their new album will be a success.

WILD – Troye Sivan ft. Alessia Cara

Though previously released with Troye’s vocals only, Alessia adds her own voice and verse to this love song. Troye was recently in Toronto filming the video with Alessia which feels like a 90s home movie.

When We Were Young (Panama Wedding Remix) – The Wild Wild

Bringing retro elements to the modern day, The Wild Wild’s "When We Were Young" gives your nostalgia like crazy. The Panama Wedding remix, by the band of the same name, gives the song a chiller vibe completely recreating the instrumental with different synths and instruments.

Augustine’s “Picking Up Speed” evokes the warm, comfortable melancholia of a new love considered in the reflection of a bus window; not sad, but deeply emotional in a way that almost brings tears to your eyes for reasons you’re not sure you can explain.

Elli Moore doesn’t mean to come off like she’s emotionless, and yet her disaffection inevitably finds itself at home on her single “Stomach.” Despite the strong feelings she attempts to relate through the lyrics, it does not appear that prosody is one of this song’s gr...

Brooklyn based artist Chloe Lilac began her career sneaking out at age 13 to perform on the streets. Now in 2020, she’s making waves, playing SXSW, touring around, releasing music, and getting streams. She’s got a second album coming out soon, and here’s her new single...

Conan Gray is one of those cases where a small-town kid makes some very catchy music on Garageband and a cheap mic taped to a lamp and finds explosive success. This doesn’t always happen, and it’s a testament to Conan’s ability as a songwriter. Fast forward to the pres...

Texas-bred songwriter Zachary Knowles is just starting to get some much deserved attention. Signed under the prestigious record label FADER, Knowles is all set to drop his forthcoming EP titled Magnolia. His newest offering from this EP is called ‘Cherry Wine’.

The Youtube comments on this video seem pretty accurate.

This summertime guitar production mixes well with BabyJake's raspy singing, harmonies and a blackbear type of tone.  Also reminiscent of the Dominic Fike wave that's taking over, we're excited to hear more talente...
