When I first heard "Backbeat" in the winter I knew I would be hooked on DAGNY. Hailing from Norway, Dagny releases her debut EP "Ultraviolet" and it's filled with pop jams. Her songs have a band feel that will no doubt bring on a killer, fun live show. The EP opens with "Fight Sleep" that has bluesy vibes with a chorus that will make you want to sing along, granted the gang vocals help with that too. The verses feature her smooth voice, hooking you in with her chanting "Why don't we fight sleep?" Now I'm not entirely sure what fight sleeping is but apparently you'll end up together if you do.

Next we have the title track "Ultraviolet". Of course we have the band sound with a song about being in love with someone. It seems there's a lot of songs today that juxtapose colour with love, it does really make sense though doesn't it? She talks about the white light pulling you in and not being able to resist the ultraviolet light - kinda like how bugs can't resist the purple light either right?

Okay so the third track is called "Too Young",no doubt about being too young to feel so old. I am such a sucker for these types of songs though, they're so much fun usually and really relatable to me at this point in my life. The track opens with a groovy guitar riff and leads to a chorus that you'll certainly want to sing along to at the top of your lungs.

The second to last is "Backbeat" the first single that no doubt will make you dance. It opens with Dagny's solo vocals, then each instrument is introduced, piano, drums, bass, all with her asking the question of "where do we go from here?" She compares this to dancing and being on beat.

And lastly we have "Fools Gold", a track I featured in a previous post, with Børns about love again, a track layered perfectly with Dagny and Børns vocals with them singing about a relationship that went wrong but was actally amazing or really was it just fools gold?

There you have it, Dagny's debut. Now I think it's time for her to get over to Canada and play some live shows - I know I'll be dancing and singing along.
