American Neo-Soul duo from New York City, Lion Babe, alternatively known as singer/dancer Jillian Hervey and producer Lucas Goodman have recently released a stunning, empowering visual to go along with their song “Got Body.” Their latest LP Begin was released in February and features a guest spot from Childish Gambino (“Jump-Hi”) as well as a song writing credit from Pharell. When Lion Babe released a track it should be common knowledge that an absolutely beautiful visual will be soon to follow and so far the duo have not disappointed.

Directed by Julian Branciforte the aesthetically pleasing video begins with Goodman working on producing one of Lion Babe’s tracks before heading out to join her in their adventure around NYC. Along with the stellar cinematography the video itself is relatable; two friends painting the town red, radiating positivity and infecting those they come into contact with. The solo shots of Hervey dancing could be any of us getting ready for a night out, feeling ourselves, listening to music and letting loose in front of the mirror.

“Got Body” is an uplifting tune as Hervey sings, “I got body, no matter what I wear.” She’s moving in clothes that she feels beautiful in and it shows all over her face. The message is heavy with body positivity, embracing what you have and feeling powerful no matter what clothes you wear because you are here, you are present, you’ve got a body and it’s yours and no one else’s.
