I had the pleasure of attending the much anticipated show of CMW, Canadian/LA- based Electro Pop artist Allie X. It was a fully-packed house at The Mod Club on Saturday. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a sold-out event. It was a younger crowd at this event.

The opening act was Toronto-based Alternative Pop band the Romes. They definitely have a stage presence that stands out.

They’re boy band looks, sex appeal and they’re swoony pop vocals with an edge, I can see how they appeal to the teeny-bopperish crowd that night. Their talent is no doubt evident with their vocal harmonies and guitar/drumming skills. Most of the songs they performed were love ballads and had the crowd’s eyes glued from beginning to end. The catchy song ‘Someone’ had the audience singing along.

When Allie X graced the stage, the crowd went crazy. Her vibe was a bit Lady Gaga-ish with her sound and edge and she also wore her shades throughout the show. At times she also showed her talent on the piano playing a few times. The highlight of the show was when she performed her song “Bitch” with the crowd singing every word to the song. Most of the songs had to do with love and relationships.

She was very interactive with the crowd grabbing a phone from a fan in the front row and recorded a selfie video of her singing to the camera.

The synthy sounds combined with her pop vocals made for a great show and I’m now a new fan of Allie X.
