MORGXN - "XX"

May 7, 2017

Los Angeles based artist morgxn premiered his fourth track “XX” a few weeks back. morgxn started singing at the age of six. He describes himself as a “small, chubby Jewish kid dominating the gospel choir.” At the age of nine he was taking voice lessons, piano lessons and started writing his own music. After high school he moved to New York City and did theatre for some years, before feeling he needed to pursue his own music. Although this is only his fourth track, the wxnderlost records artist has already received recognition from Billboard, NYLON, V Magazine and many others. He has played high-profile SXSW showcases and opened for X Ambassadors as well as Oh, Wonder!

“XX” is a high-energy pop song. Reminiscent of artists like BØRNS and Mika, his sound is catchy and hypnotic. A good beat, and an interesting musical line beneath his vocals make the song stand out as more than just the typical pop song. morgxn describes the song as an exploration of love. He says: “We are born into this world knowing how to love. But we forget, every day, that it's our right to feel it. To receive it. XX is reclaiming that for myself. This song was the genesis of my project. It came from years of searching and wandering and creating. X marks the spot... so they say. To me, an X is all about transitions and crossroads, and finally claiming that transition for myself.”
