This alt-pop band, like many great things, was created when two people got married. Bethany Schumacher has a history in visual arts, and Jared Salte comes from a musical family, so it makes sense that when they created The Royal Foundry these two traits would blend together wonderfully. Bethany's visual arts talents translate incredibly well into both the lyrics and sound of their new single 'Never Have Time', which proves that there are few boundaries in any form of art. Their music, while very original, can be compared to bands such as Mumford and Sons, Bastille, and Coldplay. The Royal Foundry has made countless accomplishments, from winning $75,000 at Peak Performance Project, to being featured on programs such as TSN for the CFL and off-air Toronto drama Rookie Blue.
Their new song 'Never Have Time' is, in a word, dynamic. In more words, it takes you on a trip. It starts off as being a soft, melodic, and soothing tune, with lyrics such as "the sun was creeping up on you" set to music that can almost make you feel the warm sun on your skin. There are echoes that make it feel almost dream-like, but not in a way that makes you feel sleepy. Then, it makes an almost full 180º and becomes an upbeat song perfect for the upcoming summer. With sounds like snapping fingers, joyful piano notes, happy violin, and synth, it quickly becomes a song that is all too easy to dance carefree to (which is anything but a bad thing). If you're looking for a song that you can listen to on a summer morning, afternoon, or night, no matter where you are, then this is absolutely the song for you.
