SWEDEN'S VARGAS & LAGOLA - "AS LONG AS I HAVE TO" IS CATCHY DANCE-POP WITH AN URBAN TWIST

June 2, 2017

The Grammy winning songwriting/ producing duo Vargas & Lagola is heading in a new direction. After a successful career with writing credits that include Madonna, Katy Perry and Avicii, the Swedish musicians are breaking out as their own musical act. The duo consists of Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare. These two released their debut single “Rolling Stone” this January. Their newest track “As Long As I Have To,” comes after their well-received instrumental track “Dolores.”

“As Long As I Have To” is yet another example of Swedish musicians setting the standards of pop and dance music, with hints or urban bass and drums. This is a catchy track, with an essence of house music that gives it potential to be a great dance track. The repetitive refrain of “I’m right here whenever you need me… I’ve been waiting as long as I have to,” will stick in peoples’ heads. A great summer tune, it’ll surely be played on repeat.

Yes, it might be late on in the year but Violet LaVelle’s “Summer Love”, from September’s “Afraid To Say I Love You” is a bright, poppy bop about the complexity of confusing the love of summer with a summer love. From the unwound cassette cover art with hand-made mixta...
