Jared PM, a Boston, MA artist has been inspired since the age of 14 when he began writing and recording his own music. It was not until the end of high school when he had locals buzzing over his performances around Boston which lead him to releasing music online. Jared went on to attend Berklee College of Music but ended up dropping out and moving to New York City to record music full-time. Although Jared faced complications with management and most of his music was never released, he opened for The Beatnuts and Jeru the Damaja in London and Paris during this experience.
Jared went back to school at the age of 20 and graduated from Marist College in 2016. He then went on to pursue his career as a full-time artist. His sound is described as a fusion of hip-hop, R&B, soul and pop. All of his dedication and hard work to trial and error lead him to releasing singles as of June 2017 and is keeping busy with his debut project.
Now at the age of 23, the singer-songwriter releases his first single “Dead Battery”. There is definitely a mix of pop, hip-hop and R&B in this track. Jared sings the chorus and raps the verses against a pop/hip-hop based instrumental. The song is catchy from the mix of genres and even the lyrics that represent being able to go through your day without needing to constantly check your phone. He raps about enjoying the moment instead of living it through your lens. It also gets you thinking that you do not need social media to determine who is important in your life, the likes and views on your photos do not mean a thing at the end of the day. So many of us are glued to our phones, wasting time scrolling through different apps when we could be creating memories and not watching someone else do it. Jared shares a realistic message through a catchy, well written track.
I think many of us can relate to Jared when he says, “I want to wake up every day and do something I love instead of settling for a job/lifestyle that I hate because of stereotypes and fears.” He was able to chase his dreams when he decided to pursue his career in music about 8 months ago. We are definitely looking forward to what else he has in store for us and in the meantime take a listen to his single “Dead Battery” here:
