THANKS. - "YOUR WORLD"

July 24, 2017

The indie pop duo thanks., consisting of artists Steve Pagano and Mario Borgatta are making waves with their undeniably catchy melodies. Their sound leans on a combination of psychedelic pop as well as electronic and cinematic vibes.

thanks. was initially formed after Borgatta and Pagano met at Berklee College of Music back in 2009. Sharing similar goals when it came to their passion for music, the two recognized and took hold of an opportunity to collaborate on something that showed great potential. Hoping to resonate with audiences through their artistic portrayal of lyrics and music, the duo has been successful in making their mark in the industry within a sea of emerging artists. They have made appearances on numerous networks such as Netflix, MTV and ABC and have participated in engineering records for critically acclaimed artists including Muse, Death Cab for Cutie and Foster the People.

Debut album Colfax refers to the name of the location of the recording studio in which much of the magic was conceived. thanks. set out to give their music a voice, presenting a culmination of their shared beliefs and ideas to the world. What ensued was an authentic album that reflected the true nature of these artists and their surroundings, straying from the confines of musical elitism. thanks. stresses how important it was for them to produce a record that held truth to many different types of people. They want their content to remain open for individual interpretation and do so by keeping their music transparent, as Borgatta explains. The pair pride themselves in being artists who are conscious of staying in tune with the universe and the people that they come in contact with.

Dubbed the ultimate summer anthem, lead single “Your World” is a mixture of funk rhythms and psych-pop vibes, encompassing all that thanks. represents as a genre. There is also suggestion of some resemblance to early MGMT in this catchy track. “Your World” appears to be an upbeat track but actually contains a darker message. Inspired by George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four”, the song discusses a dystopic society in which political agenda has absolute power regardless if people agree with it or not. Borgatta notes, “though our lyrics aren't meant to express any opinion towards a specific political idea or belief, we hope to motivate people to take action in what they believe in.”

Their full length album Colfax is set to release this summer.
