Los Angeles-based alt-folk duo Freedom Fry is composed of Parisian-born Marie Seyrat and Michigan-born Bruce Driscoll. Over the past six years, the band has independently amassed over 50 million streams on Spotify and earned numerous #1 appearances on HypeMachine.
After having released a string of EPs, they are preparing to release their highly anticipated debut album, 'Classic', on June 1st. They recently shared the first single and title track "Classic". The song is a luminous indie folk song, perfect for a warm, sun-soaked summer day, in the same vein as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros or Of Monsters and Men. The track fuses danceable rhythms with an infectious feel-good vibe; the lyrics are smart and poetic.
Back in February, Freedom Fry released a short "Mariachi Version" video for "Classic". Today, they are sharing the retro-inspired official video for the single. Co-directed by the band and Ryan Lumley, and starring gender-neutral model Mads Paige, the clip is "an homage to America and its icons, while representing them in a way that is unrestricted by the rules of the time in which they were created. A woman who feels as though she was born in the wrong era decides to be true to herself and takes the form of her 'spirit animal,' James Dean. She sets out on her journey in Hollywood and has a chance encounter with her soulmate. Along the way we're introduced to a cast of characters that give the spirit of classic America", explains the duo.
