CIMO FRANKEL ASKS "WHERE DO YOU HIDE YOUR LOVE"

June 12, 2018

Cimo Frankel is a 28 year old Dutch singer, songwriter, and producer influenced by King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Being active for 12 years means that he has had a lot of time to fine-tune his skills to a degree where he was able to work with artists such as Skrillex, Bebe Rexha, Far East Movement, and James Arthur just to name a handful.

His newest song, “Where Do You Hide Your Love” starts slow and raw, singing of what suggests a breakup. Soon however, Cimo allows his voice to become stronger and more powerful, similar to how one gets over a breakup. In fact, in under a minute this song transforms from an ode to a lost love to a dancing song. The juxtaposition between lyrics that reminisce on how things used to be, and a beat that feels endlessly freeing, is both unusual and uplifting.

If someone were to ask me where I hide my love, I would answer that I hide it right in this song. I have countless reasons to be proud of the Dutch heritage given to me by my mom, and after listening to this song, Cimo Frankel has provided me with yet another reason.

Not only is the song concept very ironically relatable to this rising generation, but this production is incredibly refreshing. From the chord progression to the balance of nostalgic and modern synths, quirky percussion and of course Anna's angelic vocal tone. And she'...
