ASHLEE AND EVAN MIX LIKE "TONIC"

October 16, 2018

Get ready for some funk, because that is exactly what Ashlee + Evan are bringing on their new single "Tonic". Bouncy production, and catchy lyrics is the name of the game this time for collaborators Ashlee & Evan, and its execution is top notch.

Ashlee Simpson, the younger sister of Jessica Simpson is a actress, and musician, born in Waco, Texas and is married to part two of their duo, Evan Ross. Evan, is also an actor, and musician stemming from Greenwich, Connecticut. Tonic's energetic production comes from Verdine White, the long time bassist of "Earth, Wind, and Fire", Austin Brown, and Bryan London, while the vocals were written by Ashlee, and Evan themselves.

The funk infused "Tonic" follows the recent releases of the soul inflected "Paris", and "Safe Zone", and the tender pop ballad "I Do", which was the first stem of new music from Ashlee Simpson in over 10 years.

"Tonic" will be released as part of their weekly music series to coincide with the third episode of E! docu-series Ashlee + Evan premiering in the U.S. on September 30th. The series, which is airing in 160 countries around the world, takes viewers behind-the-scenes on their journey through love, making music, and raising a family. All roads lead to a duet album scheduled for this Autumn.

Not only is the song concept very ironically relatable to this rising generation, but this production is incredibly refreshing. From the chord progression to the balance of nostalgic and modern synths, quirky percussion and of course Anna's angelic vocal tone. And she'...

Brooklyn Semhar waxes melancholic and laments a family divided on “Daddy.” This track is a smouldering, slow-burning groove that pulls itself along with all the moodiness of its subject matter. It is arranged beautifully, and reflects a refreshing jazz influence in its...
