Judah & The Lion is an alternative folk band from Nashville, Tennessee that was formed back in 2011 with Judah Akers (vocals, guitar), Brian Macdonald (mandolin, vocals), and Nate Zuercher (banjo, vocals) along with a few others members they bring on tour to fill out their sound.
Their newest and most personal album Pep Talks was released on May 3 and “says the things that they wished they heard as they were going through their own struggles”.
Judah, the bands lead singer, “thinks it’s super important for people with any type of influence to have a message”- his being that “everyone is equal, everybody’s lives matter and every individual is important”. He continues by saying “your story and your perspective and what you’re going through matters so much because you are human. You are worth of love because you are human”.
Judah & The Lion are a beckon of hope. They are the single flame that continues burning throughout the darkest of nights without any intention of ever burning out. Through ’Pep Talks’, the band wants to tell the world that they aren’t alone. That no matter how dark it gets, how isolated one feels, how defeated they feel that they aren’t alone. They are seen, heard, and are loved.
I had the pleasure of seeing them play a secret showcase for CMW at The Hideout in Toronto, Canada and was completely blown away. I laughed, danced, cried, and sang my heart out with everyone else there. They have a truly special way of connecting with their fans and making them a part of something bigger than life itself. It’s evident the amount in which they love their fans and their fans love them right back. They choose to always be their true authentic selves and I have nothing but the upmost respect for them.
They’ll be back in Toronto at the Budweiser Stage with the Arkells on June 22!
